Prof. Zheng Hong (George) Zhu

Professor George Zhu is the College Member of Royal Society of Canada, Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada (EIC), Fellow of the Canadian Society for Mechanical Engineering (CSME), Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). His research interests touch on a number of topics including the dynamics and control of tethered spacecraft systems, electrodynamic tether propulsion and space debris removal, space robotics and advanced spacecraft materials.
Prof. Dongrui Wu, Huazhong University of Science and Technology
Dongrui Wu received a B.E in Automatic Control from the University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei, China, in 2003, an M.Eng in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National University of Singapore in 2006, and a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA, in 2009. He is now Professor and Deputy Director of the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education for Image Processing and Intelligent Control, School of Artificial Intelligence and Automation, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China.
Prof. Wu's research interests include affective computing, brain-computer interface, computational intelligence, and machine learning. He has 150 publications (6,400+ Google Scholar citations; h=39), including a book "Perceptual Computing" (Wiley-IEEE Press, 2010), and five US/PCT patents. He received the IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems Best Student Paper Award in 2005, the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (CIS) Outstanding PhD Dissertation Award in 2012, the IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems Outstanding Paper Award in 2014, the North American Fuzzy Information Processing Society (NAFIPS) Early Career Award in 2014, the IEEE Systems, Man and Cybernetics (SMC) Society Early Career Award in 2017, and the IEEE SMC Society Best Associate Editor Award in 2018. He was a finalist of the IEEE Transactions on Affective Computing Most Influential Paper Award in 2015, the IEEE Brain Initiative Best Paper Award in 2016, the 24th International Conference on Neural Information Processing Best Student Paper Award in 2017, the Hanxiang Early Career Award in 2018, and the USERN Prize in Formal Sciences in 2019. He was a selected participant of the Heidelberg Laureate Forum in 2013, the US National Academies Keck Futures Initiative (NAKFI) in 2015, and the US National Academy of Engineering German-American Frontiers of Engineering (GAFOE) in 2015. His team won the First Prize of the China Brain-Computer Interface Competition in 2019.
Prof. Lei Ren, Huazhong University of Science and Technology
From 2005 to 2009, Professor Ren Lei studied at the Institute of software of the Chinese Academy of Sciences under the guidance of researcher Dai Guozhong, one of the famous pioneers in the field of computer graphics and CIMS computer integrated manufacturing in China. In 2009, after receiving the doctor's degree in computer application technology, he entered the Academician Li Bohu team of Beihang automation college. During this period, he had academic exchanges and visits in the United States, Canada, France, Italy, Australia, Singapore and other countries, At present, he is a professor of automation college, doctoral supervisor (pattern recognition and intelligent system direction), senior researcher of Engineering Research Center of Ministry of education for advanced manufacturing system of complex products, Secretary of system simulation and intelligent manufacturing department, deputy director of intelligent manufacturing and simulation technology laboratory, and deputy director of cloud manufacturing research center. Research interests include new generation artificial intelligence and big data, industrial Internet and industrial software, cloud manufacturing and intelligent manufacturing.
As the Principal Investigator, he presided over more than 20 national key R & D plans, including key projects of cloud computing big data / network collaborative manufacturing and intelligent factory, key projects of NSFC, major special projects of national industrial Internet, general projects / youth projects of NSFC and sub projects of national 863 project, As the main backbone, he has participated in more than 20 national projects such as scientific and technological innovation 2030 - new generation artificial intelligence, national key R & D plan, 863, 973 and natural science foundation. In addition, he also participated in major strategic consulting projects of the Chinese Academy of engineering such as "Research on the development strategy of China's artificial intelligence 2.0" and projects of China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation. He has published more than 100 SCI / EI papers in IEEE TII, tnnls, tase, tnse, iot-j and other international well-known journals and conferences, including 7 papers highly cited by ESI, 8 papers with impact factors greater than 10, cited by Google Scholar more than 5000 times and SCI nearly 2000 times, which have been positively evaluated by more than 50 international well-known fellows or academicians. The paper achievements related to big data won the top academic paper award of China's high-quality science and technology journals. Taking China's large manufacturing enterprises as the application background, he has led the research and development of more than 20 industrial software systems and applied for more than 50 patents and software copyrights. Won the first prize and second prize at the provincial and ministerial level. The transformation of industrial Internet core technology achievements has been applied to many national industrial Internet platforms such as CAOS, aerospace cloud network and Inspur, as well as large manufacturing enterprises such as aerospace science and industry, COMAC, CRRC, Liugong, Haier and Lenovo, with an economic benefit of more than 1 billion.

Provincial Outstanding Young Science and Technology Talent, Leader of Provincial Innovation Research Group, Specially Appointed Expert for Provincial “Enterprise Innovation Posts,” and Academic Leader in Discipline at Guizhou University. Primarily engaged in research on dynamic analysis of special electromechanical systems and networks, circuit design and intelligent control, as well as development and application of electromechanical control systems based on ARM/FPGA architectures. In recent years, he has led research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Provincial Natural Science Foundation, and China Postdoctoral Science Foundation.
